Quality Control & Traceability
W L Duffields is a fully approved and compliant feed mill with the Universal Feed Assurance Standard (UFAS.) This is a code of practice in which the mill is INDEPENDANTLY AUDITED on a regular basis to ensure conformity. The factory is audited by UFAS, VMD (Veterinary Medicines Directorate), DEFRA, Trading standards plus other bodies. Quality is ensured throughout all the processes of feed production. Traceability is ensured by a robust and comprehensive control system.
Raw materials
All raw materials are purchased from approved suppliers. All raw materials are traceable back to source. Samples are taken of all bulk raw materials and these are kept for three months. Computerised records are kept for the content of every batch of feed made. A comprehensive analysis programme is in place to quality test raw materials,either on site or external laboratories.
Manufacture of finished feeds
The computerised diet formulations are controlled by our nutritionists. Feed is made to a specific formulation and specification and is produced in either meal,pellet,pencil or roll form. Finished feeds are also sampled,retained and analysed to ensure product quality.
Transport
Feed is delivered on our own fleet of trucks or approved outside hauliers.Our transport abides by the Trade Assurance Scheme for Combinable Crops (TASCC) codes of practice for animal feeds.
